Singapore Auntie Fighting in Lift

This auntie can fight with the Hong Kong Bus Uncle!!! See him here at Youtube you will see many remix variation of his fighting! There's Sammi Cheng version, 十面埋伏 version, Rap version, 黑社会 version, Adagio for Strings version, Sodomy version! This auntie is really EH SAI! Actually can't make out why she did what she did. But she's famous liao. Then again, I've seen SO MANY cases similar to hers.. at the petrol kiosk, at the bus stop, at the taxi stand, at the car park lot, at the bank, at the fast food restaurant... People with money but no Grace.... hmmm where can I find the George Knightleys from Jane Austen's Emma in Singapore? I will find time to do up remix version to support the Singapore auntie version!

Gedo Senki

My favourite Studio Ghibli has a new animation coming. It will be showing in Singapore cinemas from 28 September. Here's the trailer.

Campaign Planning

Wah lao... last Saturday was Polling Day. I woke up and like Mr Brown ... went to do many many things. I started at 8am at Toa Payoh and was round the whole island doing something...(secret! cannot say, even though polling day is over) until 2pm. I went to Bedok wanting to eat the nice nice Bak Chor Mee with nice nice ter gnua (No, not the Mr Brown one!) but ended up eating the lao ya 高记 yong tau foo. Usually the latter's not too bad at other branches but this one at Bedok Central was the nua nua type. Then I went to the gym and then I wen to VOTE and then I out to work the ground (i.e. for my movie campaign!) some more. I want to move on to other things besides The Da Vinci Code. My mum did something 'wah-piang' that day. Wanting to make sure she knows how to make a proper cross in the ballot paper, I asked her if she knows how to vote (she's more experienced than I am actually, but she last voted more than 10 years ago, so I thought I want to remind her). she ...

Stock-taking

No. Not the annual type though today is the last day to submit income tax (sad....) I hate doing taxes!!!! Just had a class reunion about 2 months ago with the guys from RI at the school's dining hall. The canteen and the assembly hall had been torn down to make way for (what's new?...) bigger and 'better' premises. I was also back for the RJC Open House. I can't believe elitist education can be so... elitist! From left to right (Back): Guoxiang, Lingzhi, Caihong, Me, Guanzhi, Hanmin, Longhui, Lester, Suan Hau, Hendricks (Front): Mdm Tan Geok Hoon, Mr David Court Hendricks Sutiono is already a father of 2. Lester Goh is getting married this May! Met an old friend Gabriel Lim who was my classmate in lower sec in RI as well as my classmate in AJC last 2 weeks. He's a teacher in Jurong Junior College now. Something gripped me to start writing to Esther, another schoolmate from AJC who seems to be having a ball of her life in San Francisco working in a pretty ...

The Da Vinci Code

Image
It's one of the most talk-about and anticipated movie... and I'm already overrun with work for the movie. Just started the online recruitment campaign to get people to break codes to join the islandwide hunt - winning a trip to Europe with "money-can't-buy" experiences (how many times have I repeated this?). My life needs to move on... after creating all the codes and making life miserable for people.... If you want to try you hands at the codes, visit www.dvc.com.sg .

Hectic Week. Hectic Year.

I've been involved in so many projects since 'The Chronicles of Narnia' last year that it almost seemed that I would never live past the next day. Somehow I find that it's time to take stock of the past few months and write them down so that. 1 I don't feel as if life as passed me without my remembering anything 2 My friends, if you read this, you'll understand why I cannot meet up as often as I would like to (That does not mean you should cut me off altogether) 3 Why it's better to write emails to me than to call me in the middle of the day Here goes... Having ended the Narnia campaign, life was and will continue to be a continuous rollercoaster of film and consumer program campaigns. ... Derailed 5 Jan ... Memoirs of a Geisha 19 Jan ... Millenia Walk Memoirs of a Geisha programme ... Fearless 26 Jan ... Fun with Dick and Jane 2 Feb ... Burger King Love in the City Feb Campaign ... Casanova 9 Feb ... The Fog 16 Feb ... Capote 23 Feb ... Kellogg's ...

Tired

It's been so long since I had an entry. hmmm.

Exercise Regime

I have decided that the statistics of 173cm x 80kg is beyond the realm of body aesthetics. I am thinking in fact that my weight is starting to hinder my social life as well as my health. So, I'm going to start keeping a log of what exercise I have been doing and the results that may (not) come along with it. For the last 5 weeks, I have been swimming every Sunday morning. From the initial 10 laps of pool, I have progressed to 20 laps of pool. My weight had changed from 80kg to 78kg. At this point my stats are as follows: weight 78kg waist: 33" OK, we shall see what happens to the rest of my body then. All I want is to pass my IPPT (OK to be frank, maybe get at least a silver as well). I'm going to see where this is heading.

Cranky Monster, Inc

Blogger.com seems to be ultra slow today.... Lag lag lag. Anyway, it's been hell week so far and it seems to be so for at least the next few days. I received an invitation to attend ORA dinner today but I doubt I'm going. No time, no money and most importantly I'm a Nobody. Yeah, I'll never be a prominent Rafflesian and my name will never be carved onto those little wooden panels we used to see high up above our heads along the school building. If it ever appeared, it would probably read 'One who tries everything but knows nothing'. Why I mentioned this is somehow my disillusionment (again! what's new) with my day-to-day work. As I told a friend recently, I end up doing-doing-doing and actually thinking less than I used to when I was a lad. By 'lad', I do mean when I was below 18, yah? I'm now a paunchy, rotund aging-fast-becoming-uncle nightmare. Fortunately at this stage, some people still call me 'kor kor'. Eh, that reminds...

Teahouse of the August Moon

We've actually planned to have a gathering tonight... but there's just to many things going on in the office. Stuff left unpacked and undecided, work unfinished and lots more to rush, so we had to call it off. There's a new colleague coming this Friday and more preparations had to be made in order for people to do their job properly. Just remembered the 'Teahouse of the August Moon'. A production I was involved when I was 14 or 15...with Raffles Players. the well-known Jeff Chen in drama circles was then known as Jeffery Chen Rihui. He was Sakini, the effervescent Japanese in the play. There was also Vincent as Lotus Blossom. Can't exactly remember who Cpt Fishby was. But Aaron Loh and Tay Yu'Jin was involved. Aaron was a very good friend of mine... but I guess we have drifted apart, since he was 1 year older than I was. Yu'Jin was 2 years older, but he never spoke to me after a misunderstanding. I was young then and didn't know how to h...

A quiet weekend

Today is a quiet weekend. Stayed at home most of the day. Watched CATWOMAN in the late afternoon in spite of the knowledge that it is going to bore. Well, I was prepared for it. In fact, I wanted to see how bad it is. The script is very uninspiring with very contrived dialogues. (In the case of the mysterious professor, I simply could not swallow those didactics she was sprouting). The direction is bad. There is a lack of continuity possibly due to editing and the camera work seems amateurish - even the framing of the scene looks odd. The special effects are really special. They make you focus on them, instead of enhancing the story value. It's a pity we have Halle Berry and Sharon Stone in it, they can't even save the weak film. Benjamin Bratt is the typical 'vase' role he is good at ...remember MISS CONGENIALITY? On to the National Day Rally. Seems the new PM is all out to woo the general Singaporean with so many goodies to give out. My only gripe is a...

Posts Lost and Gone..

Created a post and was somehow not saved.... Spent some time talking about Bernard Taylor's WUTHERING HEIGHTS and the upcoming musical movie adaptation of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.... urrggg... too tired to repeat all that now... but I must wait till the online software updates from Apple is completed before I can go to bed. There's another redemption tomorrow for THE TWINS EFFECTS II which I have to conduct... which reminds me to start on the artwork for THE NEW POLICE STORY for National Fire Prevention Council. Movies... don't they ever end?!?!?!?! There's another Hayao Miyazaki's animation called HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE. I wonder how good that is. My favourite is still GRAVE OF THE FIREFLIES. It's a heart-wrenching story which I shall not forget for a long long time to come. I even bought the identical sweet in the film, the kind which I used to enjoy when I was young. I read Yeak Keat's funny usual posting on on ALIEN VS PREDATOR. I can be...
